Statement of Purpose – By-Laws Revised August 28, 2008.

The general purpose of this Alliance was founded in February 2005 to promote unified standards and an information platform for the letter shops and the ground or air logistic/transportation of Standard mail.

To increase its value and utility by working in partnership with the United States Postal Service (“USPS”), postal service organizations and other trade associations with similar interests in all lawful measures for the common good.
 
Members
 

All members must have an expressed interest in promoting national unified standards and an information platform for Standard mail to increase its value and utility. There shall be two categories of entities eligible to become members of the

 

Alliance

National and Premier Corporations, Letter Shops, Ground and Air Transportation of Standard mail which own or send mail through the USPS, the majority of which must be Standard mailers, and trade associations whose members are corporations with a primary interest in mailing in the United States, the majority of which shall reflect the interests of Standard mailers.

Corporations and other entities that are engaged in developing and/or promoting technology in the areaof Standard mail, ground and air logistics whose interests are consistent with those of the Alliances and who are committed to furthering the Alliances purpose.


Specific Purposes

To promote the vision and promise of the USPS’s “Information Platform”, including but not
limited to PostalOne, FAST and Surface Visibility.

To provide a forum to represent the common interest of mailers and logistics to the USPS;
primarily Standard mailers, including electronic strategy regarding operational issues such
as delivery service standards, mail tracking, surface visibility, mail and tracking systems.

 

A forum for the exchange of information between mailers, logistics and the USPS management to keep mailers and logistic (air and ground) companies aware of USPS strategies and plans and to provide USPS management with educated feedback and common positions on important issues.

 

Work Groups

NASML is a working Alliance with members actively participating with the USPS on District, Regional and National levels and with others in the mailing industry. Work groups may be formed regarding specific topics of interest. These topics will concentrate on the enhancement of Standard mail and the logistics processes of said mail and may be a portion of USPS products, plans, or services.

Executive Board and Board of Directors


The Executive Board consists of the Alliance President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and up to six board directors. Alliance Founding President and Vice-President are lifetime position (s) until such time either the President and/or Vice President become unable to carry on their duties, resigns or retires from the industry, and from their position (s) on the Board.
